Hey friends! Happy Friday to you! I'm so excited for the weekend - hoping to spend some quality time in my craft room. About a week ago, my craft room got an amazing addition - a new button and ribbon holder! Now, this may seem insignificant to some, but I've been battling bags of ribbon for years. I just kept accumulating plastic baggies filled with random scraps of ribbon - some on spools, some loose - and it was driving me crazy! I went shopping online for a solution, but could never quite find what I was looking for. So my mom, being quite the visionary that she is, said "We can make one!" And we did. And by "we," I really mean "she." We figured out that we could create a simple wall-mounted shelf and then attach dowel rods to the sides to hang ribbon spools! I absolutely love this handmade storage solution:
Here it is! 4 shelves for button jars, 6 dowels for ribbon spools and a wire with alligator clips and key rings on the bottom for unlimited ribbon scraps!
Here's a close-up of all my Papertrey Ink ribbon (I know, I know. I need MORE!). I use pins to keep the ribbon from unraveling.
This is probably my favorite part of this storage solution. I call it my "ribbon rainbow." :) I'm very visual, so being able to see all of my scraps while I work is not only inspiring, but helps me remember what I have so I can actually use it!
Here's a close-up of some of my Papertrey Ink buttons (in Ball jars from my local grocery store) and my adorable "Live" sign that was gifted to me by my 2 amazing former roommates. "Live" was a bit of an inside joke in our apartment, so it makes me feel at home to have it hanging in my craft room. :)
And that's it! My new storage solution for buttons and ribbon! I absolutely love using it so far and can't wait to fill it with more stuff! What do you use to store your buttons and ribbon? I'm always intrigued to see how my fellow crafty friends tackle storage because it's something we all have to deal with. Thanks to my wonderful and talented handy-woman (MOM!) for making this fabulous shelving unit!
As always, thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful weekend! Stay crafty!

Kalyn
